Former Real Madrid striker Michael Owen has revealed what shocked him most in Real Madrid’s Super Cup final against Barcelona.

Madrid were beaten 3-1 by arch rivals Barcelona in Riyadh, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men lost an opportunity to win an early season trophy.

Ancelotti named a strong starting team to face Barcelona, but Owen was shocked that the Real Madrid bench wasn’t strong enough.

“Just compare Barcelona’s bench to Real Madrid’s. I was shocked when I saw the lineups,” Owen told the media after the game.

Real Madrid’s bench had Dani Ceballos and Rodrygo as the only two attack-minded players, whereas Barcelona had players like Raphinha, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres and Memphis Depay on their bench.
