Real Madrid’s recent result hasn’t been impressive, and the Los Blancos were recently outplayed by Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana final.

Ahead of the Copa del Rey match against Villarreal, Carlo Ancelotti was asked to comment on Luka Modric’s recent drop in performance.

Ancelotti has revealed that Modric isn’t at his best level yet, due to his World Cup engagement, and may need to have some rest.

“Luka played the World Cup and isn’t at his best level. But he will recover with time,” the Real Madrid coach said.

Luka Modric didn’t make the list for the game against Villarreal.

Diario AS has also claimed that the midfielder will train at separately Valdebebas on Thursday and will follow a plan designed by the club to get him back into shape.
