Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni has found himself in hot soup with the Real Madrid fans, following his actions during the Real Madrid Copa del Rey clash against Villarreal.
In what was a crucial game for the Los Blancos, after losing to Barcelona, Tchouaméni was seen watching the match between Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons at an NBA event in Paris.
The 22-year-old Frenchman was out with an injury and could not have featured in the game. However, Madrid fans were angry that he chose to watch basketball rather than his side play.
Tchouaméni has received massive backlash following the incident.
But he took to social media to say he was sorry immediately after the game.
He wrote: “I apologize to my club, to the coaching staff, to my teammates and to the Madrid fans for attending an event at a time when we were playing an important match in the cup.
“I was paying close attention to what was happening in Villarreal at every time, but I didn’t make the right decision. I am very sorry.”
