Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior was a victim of an ill-timed challenge from Valencia defender Gabriel Paulista during the game between the two sides on Thursday.

Gabriel was eventually sent off for his wild kick at Vinicius which sparked a massive brawl during the game.

Gabriel has apologised for his action, and claims it wasn’t intentional.

He also vowed to keep fighting for Valencia.

He said: “I accept the criticism and the red card, I’m not proud. I’m a forceful player, but a noble one.

“I respect Vinicius and it was never my intention to hurt him.

“We are suffering a lot in this great club, experiencing a very difficult situation and feelings are on the surface. Sometimes it is difficult to control my nerves. I did not control them and I apologise from the bottom of my heart. Sorry fans.

“We will continue fighting until the end to reverse this situation. No one doubts us.”
