European Super League is back again

Just two years ago, the European Super League caused an uproar, as many of Europe’s elite clubs tried forming a breakaway league.

The ESL plan failed, especially with backlash from fans of the Premier League.

The European Super League is intending to make a comeback with a new format, according to the project’s sister company A22.

The new ESL format is reported to be a ‘multi-division competition of 60 to 80 teams with no permanent members and a minimum of 14 games per club, per season.’

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus still remain the pioneers of the project, and they have reportedly contacted more than 50 clubs over the creation of the new ESL format that could replace the Champions League.

It’s yet to be seen if this proposal would work, and if it works, it will most likely begin in a few years from now.
