With Vinicius Junior absent from the team to face Elche due to suspension, Carlo Ancelotti deployed Rodrygo on the left flank.

Rodrygo has been in top form of late, and also put in a good performance down the left flank, which is Vinicius preferred position.

Speaking after the game against Elche, Carlo Ancelotti spoke about the two Brazilians who both prefer the left flank.

Ancelotti said: “He [Rodrygo] is more used to playing on the left, but he is a complete player and can play in any position up front.

“He started in that position, but he’s different to Vini Jr. because he comes in more through the centre and leaves more space out wide. We are lucky to have both of them”.
