Jordan Henderson has lamented Liverpool’s 5-2 Anfield defeat to Real Madrid during their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 clash, and admitted that the team ‘made too many mistakes’.
Real Madrid came from two goals down to win the tie 5-2, and indeed the victory was well-deserved.
Speaking to BT Sport after the loss, Reds’ captain, Jordan Henderson said: “Very difficult. It’s hard to sum it up. Frustrated.
“In the first half we performed well. We made too many mistakes and we were punished.
“They have so much quality but we didn’t help ourselves tonight. I’m not sure the set-piece was a foul. The game then got away from us.
“We were unlucky to go in level – we had a good first half and we were on top. There was a big chance at 2-0. If that goes in, it’s a big moment in the match”
