Liverpool fans had been hoping for a revenge against Real Madrid, after losing to the Los Blancos in last season’s Champions League final.

However, it was yet another dominant performance from Real Madrid, as Liverpool got schooled at their own backyard.

It started all well for the Reds, and just after 14 minutes, they were already 2-0 ahead.

Darwin Nunez scored a 4th minute opener, before Mohamed Salah added another ten minutes later following a Thibaut Courtois blunder.

Real Madrid clawed back into the game with a first-half brace from Vinicius Junior. The first was a Karim Benzema assist to the Brazilian, and the second, Vinicius closed down Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, and his pressing ensured that the ball hit him and went right into the net.

The second-half was a top class performance from Madrid, as Ancelotti’s men easily dictated play.

Eder Militao scored a headed goal from a free kick two minutes after the restart. Karim Benzema made it four eight minutes afterwards, as the Los Blancos enjoyed themselves on the pitch from then on.

Karim Benzema smashed the fifth goal home in the 67th minute to seal a 5-2 win for Real.

It was indeed a top comeback from Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
