It was a pure breed of attacking football from Real Madrid, as the Los Blancos came from two goals down to beat Liverpool 5-2 at Anfield.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard admitted after the game that Real Madrid were the better side by a distance.

Gerrard went on to hail football greats Karim Benzema and Luka Modric.

“Tonight was a reality check for Liverpool,” Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard told BT Sport after the game.

“Sometimes you just have to put your hands up and say yeah the better team won. We witnessed football greatness here tonight with Modric and Benzema.

“Liverpool were dominated and out-classed tonight. I’m sure there will be an inquest into why 5 goals were conceded. It was not good enough.”
