Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is one of the leaders in the Madrid dressing room, and has been a key player for the club for a decade now.
However, the Croatia international is in the final few months of his current deal with the club.
According to Relevo, Modric is yet to agree terms to a new deal, which has bemused the club.
Real Madrid want Modric to retire from national team duties, but Modric who turns 38 in September is yet to do so.
The club is yet to understand why the 37-year-old hasn’t yet retired from the national team.
The international duty adds around 10 matches per year, making it more difficult for Modric to recover properly for Madrid’s games, and there’s always a risk of injury as well.
The relationship between both parties is said to be excellent, while Modric holds dreams of retiring at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Reports still claim that both parties would try to find a way around at the end of the season.
