Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has been announced as the FIFA best player of the year.

Messi beat Benzema to the award, much to the displeasure of the Real Madrid fans.

Interestingly, Real Madrid defender David Alaba voted his Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema in second, favouring Lionel Messi, who went on to eventually win the award.

This has now caused uproar among the Madrid fans.

Alaba later explained that the decision to vote for Messi was made by the entire Austrian squad.

While Madrid fans are angry about this, Barca fans are making fun of the situation.
