Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea for a massive fee of €106m in 2019.
However, his time at the club has been a disaster, as the Belgian has featured just 73 times in four years and netted a miserly seven goals within that timeframe.
Interestingly, Hazard still remains Real Madrid’s top earner, and receives an astonishing €600k-per-week.
Madrid do not want to force him out if he doesn’t want to leave, and he doesn’t seem to be in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
Real Madrid are obligated to honour the deal they signed with the 32-year-old, and Eden Hazard has decided to stay at Real Madrid for one more season.
According to The Athletic, Hazard will remain at Real Madrid until his contract with the club expires in June 2024.
The report claims that Hazard has long made up his mind to run down his contract at Madrid citing various ‘professional and personal reasons’.
Hazard has not played for Real Madrid in the La Liga since September with just three appearances to his name all season.
It’s sad to see such a top and talented player not live up to his world-class status at Real Madrid.
