We can beat Real Madrid at the Bernabéu – Former Barca striker assures Espanyol

Real Madrid play host to Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday afternoon.

It’s a game the Los Blancos would aim to win, having dropped points in the last two games.

Former Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite has told his new teammates at Espanyol, that they can beat Madrid on their own home turf.

The Dane left Barcelona for Espanyol last summer.

Asked why he chose Espanyol, Braithwaite told Mundo Deportivo: “The project. I think Espanyol has a lot of potential. Also, because I like living in Barcelona, but the most important thing was the project.

“We must fight to go to Europe. But now we are in this situation together with other teams and we have to think game by game.”

On Saturday’s clash with Real Madrid, he also said: “It will be a very difficult match.

“Madrid also needs victory and is under a lot of pressure. We must trust in our chances and that we can win. Every season there are teams that win at the Bernabéu. We have to be at the top to win the game.”
