Nacho Fernandez had a good game today, as he captained Real Madrid to a fine 3-1 victory over Espanyol.
Nacho assisted Marco Asensio for Madrid’s third goal of the game, to cap off a fine performance.
Nacho is in the final year of his contract with Real Madrid, and has so far refused to sign a new deal.
The 33-year-old had little playing time at the start of the season, but is now a more regular feature, due to injury to key players.
Nacho has now said that his future at the club is determinant on how happy he is – that is if he keeps playing games.
Nacho said after the 3-1 win over Espanyol, when asked if he has made a decision on his future: “No. It’s a decision that will not depend on whether I play more or not but it is clear that I am much happier now.
“If things go as they have been going up until now, I won’t be able to find somewhere else the happiness I get from defending this shirt.
“I like to live in the present and things like these make me think that everything will be good.”
