Real Madrid came from behind to beat Espanyol 3-1, and close the gap on Barcelona, who play Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

For Madrid’s second goal, Aurelien Tchouameni provided an assist with his outside foot, which was met with the head of Eder Militao.

Luka Modric is one who can distribute passes with such panache, and Tchouameni admitted after the game that he learns a lot from Modric during training.

He said: “I can learn from Luka Modric during training sessions. I am happy to have provided this assist.

“I can watch Luka pass like this every day in training.”

Speaking on the victory, Tchouameni said: “This was a big win. We want to win every game. We haven’t managed to win the last couple of league matches but we did a good job today and we’re happy.

“It was tough early on but we grew into the game with and without the ball and it’s a well-deserved victory.”
