Liverpool will need more than a miracle if they’re to progress to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Real Madrid host Liverpool on Wednesday, as both sides play the second leg of their round-of-16 Champions League match at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The reverse fixture ended 5-2 at Anfield about three weeks ago, and one man, who was at the heart of the win for Madrid was Luka Modric.
Liverpool will have to neutralise the Croatian to stand a chance of winning the game— a task even Jurgen Klopp knows will not be easy.
In a recently documentary, the Croatian is heard saying about a Champions League tie against PSG last season: “There was a lot of criticism and such, and we knew that we had to change.
“But despite not playing well and that they were better, when I left the field I gave Carvajal a message that turned out to be true.”
He then said to teammate Dani Carvajal: “We are going to crush them (PSG) in the return leg (in Madrid).”
Indeed, this has always been the mantra for Real Madrid. No wonder the Los Blancos have won the Champions League more than any other club.
