Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has admitted that the second leg of his side’s UEFA Champions League round-of-16 clash with Liverpool was not as difficult as he had hoped it would be.
Madrid beat the Reds 5-2 at Anfield three weeks ago, before edging the second leg 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Ahead of the game, Ancelotti had expressed concerns over a possible comeback by Liverpool, but after his side’s latest win over the Reds, the Italian claimed it was almost a walkover for them.
“We controlled the game, and we played according to our plan,” Ancelotti told CBS Sports after his team defeated Liverpool at Santiago Bernabeu.
“You can’t be 100% sure if we conceded one goal at the beginning of the game, because things would’ve changed quickly, but after the game, I can say it was not hard as we expected it to be.”
