We are happy to face Real Madrid again – Chelsea chief explains why

The draws for the Champions League quarter-final was conducted on Friday, and it was indeed an interesting one.

Real Madrid were drawn to face Chelsea in the quarter-final – both teams met at this stage of the competition last season, with the Los Blancos edging Chelsea in a very tense tie.

Chelsea and Real Madrid are the last two teams to have won the Champions League, and it has always been an intense meeting, as they also played each other in the last two Champions League seasons.

Chelsea chief David Barnard has said they’re happy with their Champions League quarter-final draw against Real Madrid.

Barnard believes it’ll be a very competitive tie, and there are no favourites yet.

He stated, “This is the third part of the trilogy.

“After the playoffs [in 2021 and 2022], both teams became champions. Playing the second leg at home is better for us and for the fans.

“There are no favourites in this match, everything is on par.”
