Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni hasn’t been in the best of form since the World Cup in Qatar.

Tchouameni made the €100m move to Real Madrid from AS Monaco,  and has been brilliant for the Los Blancos.

He had carried his fine form into the World Cup and was one of the key men for Didier Deschamps side as they reached the final in Qatar. However, since returning to the club from the World Cup, the Frenchman has struggled.

Speaking ahead of France Friday night’s Euro 2024 qualifier against The Netherlands, France manager Didier Deschamps has backed Tchouameni to return back to form.

Deschamps said in a press conference, transcribed by L’Équipe: “He isn’t in the best period for a variety of reasons. He had a very good World Cup.

“He has felt some after-effects. He has a small muscular worry. There is a lot of competition (at Real Madrid). He has had less playing time.

“But I have complete faith in Aurélien because of what he is capable of doing. That doesn’t mean that I’m not looking at others (different midfield options).”
