Former Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil recently pulled the curtain on his illustrious career.

Ozil spent between 2010 and 2013 at Real Madrid, and he has admitted that it was the toughest period of the El Clasico rivalry, and scoring against Barcelona was a beauty.

He told Marca: “I think I lived through the best period of the Clasicos, Madrid-Barca at its peak.

“Up to the Champions League semi-finals. They were games that had it all. It was Mou [Jose Mourinho] against Pep [Guardiola], Cristiano against Messi…

“Nowadays El Clasico has lost intensity and emotion, I would say.

“Beating Barcelona at that time was like an orgasm, because they were incredibly strong games.

“I have played many matches, many derbies, but I think there will be nothing like those Clasicos.”
