Real Madrid are the current holders of the Champions League, but Real Madrid legend Luis Figo does not believe his former team will retain the Champions League title this season.

Figo insists he won’t rule out Real Madrid, but believes that the winner will be either Bayern Munich or Manchester City.

“My favourite teams to win the Champions League this season are Manchester City and Bayern Munich,” Figo said.

He did not completely write off Real Madrid as “they can always be counted on”.

Real Madrid have already eliminated Premier League giants Liverpool, and will face another top Premier League side, Chelsea, in the quarter-final. The winner of this tie will face the winner of Bayern Munich vs Manchester City in the semi-final.

This is a bit similar to last season, where Real Madrid had to beat Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool to win the Champions League.
