Real Madrid play host to Real Valladolid on Sunday, and reports from  Diario AS, claims that Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is planning to rest Federico Valverde for this game.

Ancelotti believes that the Uruguayan may be in need of rest after being overworked for much of the season.

Valverde was the last player to return to Real Madrid training following the international break, and he played 180 minutes for Uruguay in the friendlies against Japan and South Korea.

At club level, Federico has been one of Ancelotti’s most used players after the World Cup, starting in all but two games (against Valencia and Cacereno).

The 24-year-old may be rested for this weekend’s clash.

Ancelotti will be pleased with Valverde’s contribution this season, as he has hit double figure for goals – for the first time.

Valverde has recorded 12 goals and 4 assists in 42 matches so far this term.
