Real Madrid were at their stunning best, as they defeated Valladolid 6-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
With Barcelona defeating Elche 4-0 yesterday, the Los Blancos needed to put up an even better show.
After 22 minutes of play, Marco Asensio led a fine counterattacking move, which was finished off by Rodrygo for Madrid’s opener.
Karim Benzema would then score a hat-trick within 7 minutes to wrap up the first-half in stunning fashion.
Real Madrid started the second-half in similar fashion, and Rodrygo saw a goal ruled out for handball in the build-up, shortly after the hour mark.
Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez added the icing on the cake with two goals in the closing stages.
Real Madrid have now stretched their unbeaten home run to 17 matches.
Up next for the Los Blancos is the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final clash at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.
