Antonio Rudiger has become a mainstay in defence for Real Madrid in recent months, especially since the absence of David Alaba.

The German international was conspicuously missing in the squad as the Los Blancos defeated Real Valladolid 6-0.

Carlo Ancelotti  announced his matchday squad for the La Liga match against Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabéu earlier today, and there was no Rudiger.

Real Madrid are yet to officially announce the reason for the centre-back’s absence, but Mundo Deportivo has claimed that he has been ruled out due to a knee problem.

Rudiger is also expected to miss the El Clasico clash on Wednesday, as Real Madrid go away to face Barcelona in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final tie.

Rudiger will undergo tests on Monday to determine the exact extent of his injury.
