Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 4-0 to reach the final of the Copa del Rey.

It was an entertaining encounter at the Camp Nou, with the first-half evenly balanced. However, a swift flowing counter attack just before half-time, was finished off by Vinicius Jr to put Real Madrid in front.

Karim Benzema would score a second-half hat-trick to make the scores 4-0.

Xavi was deflated after the game, and claimed that the scoreline didn’t reflect the true nature of the game.

Speaking after getting spanked by Real Madrid, Xavi said: “It’s a heavy defeat that hurts us. We have to be united after a difficult night to digest.

“We have competed better than the result says, the second half has done us badly. In the first half we were very good, we should have stopped their counter attack in the last minute. The 0-2 just after half time killed us. We have to be self-critical and continue.

“It would sound like an excuse if we talk about injuries. We competed very well in the first leg and in the first half. I feel proud about that. I already said that Madrid were the favourites, they are the recent Champions League winners.”
