Real Madrid got beaten 3-2 at home at the Santiago Bernabéu, despite taking the lead twice against Villarreal.
It was a lacklustre performance from Carlo Ancelotti’s men, who was disappointed with the showing of his team.
Ancelotti blamed missed chances and lack of intensity to win the ball back as the real reason for the defeat.
“It was a tough game because we didn’t win the ball back and they handled it well,” Ancelotti said, as reported by Marca.
“We had the chance to make it 3-1 and could have slowed down the pace of the game. But we didn’t defend well.
“We could have done better. We struggled to be 100% motivated. But if you’re not 100% you have to be better on the pitch.”
The defending from the team was really horrible, and looked short of confidence as Samuel Chukwueze ran riot on the right flank.
