Ancelotti sends warning to Chelsea after losing to Villarreal

Real Madrid were in high spirits after beating Barcelona 4-0 to reach the final of the Copa del Rey.

However, Carlo Ancelotti largely rotated his squad to face Villarreal, and the incoming players did little to justify their starting role.

Despite starting the game well and taking the lead twice, Madrid would go on to lose the game 3-2.

Ancelotti has however warned that there should be no cause for alarm ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League meeting with Chelsea.

He said: “This leaves no doubt. It happened, but Wednesday is a different story. The temperature has dropped a bit, but on Wednesday we’ll be at our best.

“Changing the team was inevitable because there was wear and tear after the Barcelona game.”
