UEFA president accused of corruption after slamming Real Madrid

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has been very critical of Real Madrid, and may now face his own side of scrutiny.

The Slovenian has been re-elected unopposed for a third term as president of UEFA.

The 55-year-old Slovenian lawyer, was first elected in 2016, as he took over from Frenchman Michel Platini, and will remain in the role until 2027.

Ceferin has now been accused of having falsified documents on his resume.

According to the Slovenian media ‘Prava’, Ceferin lied at a specific point in his CV that would have invalidated his election as president of the union in 2016.

Ceferin had claimed he was a member of the board of directors of the Olimpija Ljubljana between 2006 and 2011, which apparently was not the case.

Ceferin hasn’t hidden his disdain for Real Madrid since the European Super League plot, and recently said that football doesn’t belong to Real Madrid.

He said: “Football does not belong to anyone, in fact it belongs to all of us.

“The general interest must be above the individual interest of three clubs, two financiers and their spokesman.”
