It was another fine performance from Real Madrid, as Carlo Ancelotti rotated his side to face Cadiz away from home.
Real Madrid won the tie 2-0, with goals from Nacho Fernandez and Marco Asensio coming in the final 20 minutes of the game, to seal another La Liga victory for the Los Blancos.
It was expected that Karim Benzema will play a bit-part role, due to the Champions League clash coming up on Tuesday.
However, Carlo Ancelotti decided to play Benzema for the entire 90 minutes, despite the upcoming game against Chelsea.
Explaining his decision, Ancelotti said: “He looks in great shape to me, very fresh. He trained brilliantly yesterday.
“I told him I’d play him but bring him off when he got tired but he was fine until the end. He was disappointed not to have scored, but it was a pleasure to watch him.
“I didn’t want to bring him off because I was enjoying him being on the pitch and his nice link-up with Rodrygo.”
