Barcelona have been in the news for the past one month over the case of former referee chief Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.

Barcelona have been accused of making payments to Negreira in order to get favours.

However, Barcelona has maintained that the payments were only for technical support and nothing more, claiming that they wanted to understand why Real Madrid were getting the refereeing decisions.

Real Madrid have called for sanctions against Barcelona, which has angered club president Joan Laporta.

Laporta has now said that Real Madrid have always been assisted by referees all through the club’s history.

Joan Laporta said ahead of Barcelona’s game with Getafe, via Alfredo Martinez: “The club [Real Madrid] that has been assisted by referees in their entire history is now interested in the Negreira case. It’s nonsense.”
