Chelsea hero Joe Cole has pleaded with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti to come back and coach Chelsea again.

The Italian won the league with Chelsea in 2010, and managed the Blues for two years.

With Chelsea falling way below standards, Cole believes the Real Madrid boss could be the best person to help stabilise the club.

“I love Carlo,” Cole, who was part of the Italian’s title-winning squad, told BT Sport after their 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.

“He was actually one I thought could be on the list to come back here..

“If you ever want a manager to soothe a club and to just rebuild it…he might fancy the challenge,” added the former England international.

However, when fellow pundit Rio Ferdinand laughed off the idea of Ancelotti leaving Real Madrid for Chelsea, Cole admitted it was wishful thinking on his part.

“I’m clutching [at straws] here, I’m clutching,” Cole said with a laugh. “Carlo please come home!”
