Real Madrid veteran midfielder Luka Modric is in the final year of his contract with the club.

So far, nothing official has been done regarding Modric’s situation, and the 37-year-old Croatian will leave as a free agent this summer, if things remain the same.

However, Relevo has reported that Madrid president Florentino Perez has assured Modric of getting a new one-year contract at the club.

The proposal is expected to arrive in the coming weeks, as it guarantees that Modric will continue at Santiago Bernabeu.

Modric himself wants to remain at the club and play at the highest level, even though he has received astronomic offers from Saudi Arabia.

Modric isn’t thinking about the money, as it is his dream to retire at Real Madrid.

This season so far, Modric has played 42 matches and has contributed with 6 goals and 6 assists, showing that he’s still a key player.
