Real Madrid got a 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo, with Marco Asensio and Eder Militao getting the goals for the Los Blancos.
Real Madrid are now 8 points behind Celta Vigo, pending their game with Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has asked his teammates to keep pushing, until it becomes mathematically impossible to win the La Liga.
Courtois believes the winning momentum will also help the team prepare for the Champions League tie against Manchester City.
“We’ve been doing very well defensively lately, except against Villarreal. It’s a shame we lost that game. Today we turned over possession a lot, but we got the three points and we’re going to keep pushing,” said Courtois.
“We’re going to fight until the very last game, until it’s mathematically no longer possible. It’s a shame that we’ve dropped a points along the way, but that’s normal with the Champions League on the line. Now we have a week with three league games and we have to win them. After the Cup final we will see how many points we are behind Barcelona and if we are in with a chance.
“Our task is to keep winning to build morale for the Champions League. We’re in a semi-final and it’s important that everyone feels good, just like what happened last year with the players who played fewer minutes. I hope we can finish the season strongly.”
