It was a shocking evening for the Los Blancos at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi.

Away from home and without some key players, the Los Blancos put in a poor showing as they got beat 4-2 by the mid-table team.

Taty Castellanos scored all four goals for the hosts – two in the first half and two in the second period, as they shocked the reigning La Liga holders.

24 minutes into the game, Madrid were already 2-0 down. 34 minutes on, Vinicius Jr sparked hope of a comeback, as he scored a goal to end the half 2-1.

As it was in the first-half, Girona started the brighter of the two sides, with danger man Castellanos scoring immediately after the restart.

After the hour mark, Castellanos was at hand again to make it 4-1 for the home side.

Second-half substitute Lucas Vazquez scored a consolation goal for Real Madrid shortly after coming on, very late in the game.

Real Madrid ended up losing the tie 4-2, and could find themselves 14 points behind Barcelona, if the Blaugrana win on Wednesday.
