Real Madrid play host to Almeria on Saturday evening in a La Liga clash.

Luka Modric has suffered a fresh injury blow ahead of the game, and the Croatian midfielder has been ruled out of the squad for Saturday’s La Liga clash with Almeria due to a hamstring injury.

The 37-year-old was subbed off in the 63rd minute of Tuesday’s 4-2 defeat at Girona, and he was later seen with an ice pack on his left thigh.

Modric is expected to miss the tie on Saturday, with reports claiming he may be out for at least two weeks.

Ancelotti hinted during his press conference on Friday,  that Dani Ceballos would come into the side against Almeria, with the Spaniard boasting ‘similar characteristics’ to Modric.

“The one I see as the most similar in terms of characteristics is Ceballos,” said the Italian.

Ancelotti will be hoping his side return to winning ways after a poor showing against Girona in midweek.
