Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
Kroos was in the final year of his contract, and was contemplating retirement at an ‘early age’.
The German had also stated that he will announce his decision of his future towards the end of the season.
It now appears that Kroos has agreed to a new deal with Real Madrid – albeit a one-year contract.
According to Romano, the deal to keep Kroos for one more season has been “signed, sealed” pending an official confirmation by the club.
Kroos doesn’t have a long-term future at the club, with Jude Bellingham expected to come in and Aurelien Tchouameni expected to step up.
Kroos had an impactful time at the club, after joining from Bayern Munich in 2014 for €25m. The 33-year-old has won four Champions League and three La Liga titles during his time in Madrid. He’s also played 409 games for the club – scoring 27 goals and recording 88 assists.
