Former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, didn’t have the best of relationships with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.
The pair met again at Manchester City, and reports claim they also didn’t have the best of relationships.
Interestingly, Pep Guardiola is yet to win the Champions League since leaving Barcelona.
A viral story has resurfaced about Yaya Toure’s former agent who ‘cursed’ Pep Guardiola and Manchester City in their efforts to win the Champions League.
“I’m sure that many African shamans will not let Guardiola win the Champions League in the future. It will be like an African curse on Guardiola,” Dimitri Seluk said 3 years ago, blaming Pep for the way he mistreated Yaya.
Toure has finally broken the silence surrounding the story, and has told people not to link him with it or even take it serious at all.
Toure wrote on social media: “My former agent is being quoted by the media about a ‘curse’. Please don’t associate me with this nonsense and lazy stereotypes about African curses!? Media… move on please. This man does not represent me in any way. Amplifying these stereotypes is harmful.”
Real Madrid will definitely not be relying on any curse to beat Manchester City tonight.
