It’s your turn – Carlo Ancelotti sends message to ‘complaining’ Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has bemoaned his side’s hectic scheduling ahead of facing Real Madrid next Wednesday in the Champions League.

Real Madrid played their La Liga clash against Getafe on Saturday, and will have an extra day’s rest, compared to Man City who play a crucial Premier League game with Everton on Sunday.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday, an exasperated Guardiola said: “I don’t want to be distracted by Real because we have time – not much time because we play Sunday, thank you so much – but the Goodison Park game is a priority.

“I don’t understand it but I don’t want a fight on that any more. I don’t understand but we have to adapt it.”

Carlo Ancelotti has told his rival manager that it’s his turn to face the effect of having a day less of rest, as Real Madrid experienced it last week, where they faced City three days after winning the Copa del Rey.

Ancelotti has said: “Guardiola has complained about the calendar, which is too packed. We played with less rest in the first leg and now it’s their turn.

“The schedule isn’t ideal and that’s all there is to it. There are too many games for everyone. It was better for them to play on Saturday than on Sunday, and they’re right about that. I don’t know why we played the first leg on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.

“All the coaches complain about the calendar and someone has to do something in the future.”
