You always play with fire – Ancelotti reveals what he discovered after beating Getafe

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was in buoyant mood after the 1-0 victory over Getafe.

The Los Blancos won the tie courtesy of a second-half goal from Marco Asensio.

Carlo Ancelotti rotated his starting team for this game, and the players gave a good account of themselves nevertheless.

Speaking after the game, Ancelotti spoke highly of his strong bench.

The Real Madrid gaffer also revealed that he knows his squad that will start against Manchester City on Wednesday, as he admitted that he has learnt to play with fire over the course of his coaching career.

Ancelotti said: “I have a clear idea of Wednesday’s team today, I have no doubts at all. We’re feeling confident.

“I have a strong bench with players that can contribute in this type of game. Last year the players who came off the bench helped us win the Champions League.”

He went on: “You always play with fire in this job. What can I do? I’ve named a competitive and fresh squad so that no one complains that we’re giving an advantage to an opponent who’s fighting relegation.

“Those who were tired didn’t play. It’s a good sign that we go into Wednesday with the full squad available.”
