‘If we win I get it right, if we lose I get it wrong’ – Carlo Ancelotti explains reason for benching Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger was tipped to start the Champions League semi-final clash against Manchester City.

The German had done very well in the first leg against Manchester City, as he marshalled City star striker Erling Haaland.

Ancelotti has now said he didn’t mean to guarantee that Antonio Rudiger would start tonight’s game, blaming “a misunderstanding” in an earlier news conference.

“I’m lucky to have all the players available,” Ancelotti said. “[Eduardo] Camavinga, [Ferland] Mendy, everyone. That makes it more difficult to pick the team. If we win I get it right, if we lose I get it wrong.”
