Speaking after the 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, named Rayo Vallecano left-back Fran Garcia, as the first signing of the summer for the Los Blancos.
The 23-year-old left-back started his career at Real Madrid before being sold to Rayo in 2021 for €2m.
Real Madrid saw his prospects and inserted a buyback clause in his contract which will see him return to the Santiago Bernabeu for just €5m this summer.
“Fran García will be with us next season,” Carlo Ancelotti said during his press conference after the Rayo Vallecano game.
“He is Real Madrid’s first signing of the summer.”
The left-back spot has been a problem this season, due to Ferland Mendy’s persistent injury. Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, has had to fill that role in his absence.
Meanwhile, Fran Garcia has set a record this season. No La Liga outfield player has played more minutes than the 3,129 minutes Garcia has so far played for Rayo this season. He has also contributed three assists and two goals for his club.
Garcia has improved massively during his time at Rayo, and he’d be a good addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
