In what was a case of a victim being victimised, and the antagonist going scot free, Vinicius Jr was shown a red card after being racially abused by Valencia fans.

Following calls condemning the abuse suffered by the young Brazilian, La Liga have moved to rescind the red card shown to Vinicius against Valencia.

La Liga has reviewed the incident leading up to the red card, and found the VAR refs culpable in misleading the referee.

The VAR conveniently overlooked the fact that Vinicius was being choked by a Valencia player which triggered his reaction.

The six VAR refs on duty were subsequently fired.

Explaining the decision, a statement from the committee reads: “The images that (VAR) sent to the was totally partial & biased for the referee’s error in the assessment. And, with it, the unjust sending off, turning the attacked into the aggressor.”

Vinicius can now play for Real Madrid against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.
