Spanish giants, Real Madrid are planning a surprise move for Andy Robertson, as the club aims to replace the departing Ferland Mendy.

This is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Mendy’s recurring injury problems are the reason Madrid want a new player in that position.

Mendy has barely played matches for the outgoing European champions this term, and they have had to use Eduardo Camavinga in his role. However, the Frenchman is keen to return to his natural midfield position.

In recent times, Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich has been courted as a replacement for Mendy, but the German champions have already warned potential suitors he’s not available for sale.

Robertson has been a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s setup for years now, and would surely be difficult to lure away from Anfield. But even if the move were to happen, it will take a huge amount of money to seal the deal, especially seeing as he has three more years on his current contract.
