Karim Benzema scored Real Madrid’s opening goal in the 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano.

However, the Frenchman was seen heavily limping before he went on to score in the 31st minute of the game.

It was expected that he’d be taken off at half-time, but Benzema managed to complete the game as he seemed to shake off the injury as the game continued.

Speaking after the game, Ancelotti revealed what really transpired.

“He has had a cut on his foot, which bothered him,” Carlo Ancelotti said explaining Karim Benzema’s injury.

“At the break, we took a look at him and asked him if he could continue. He was okay.

“That cut bothered him a little.”

Benzema is trying to catch up Robert Lewandowski for the Pichichi award, and has now scored 18 La Liga goals from 23 games this season.
