It has now been confirmed that Marco Asensio will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old will not sign a new contract with the club, and will no longer be a Real Madrid player from next month.
A statement from the club has confirmed: “Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection for Marco Asensio, a player who has defended our crest and our shirt for seven seasons.
“He arrived at Real Madrid when he was only 20 years old and has managed to enter the history of our club as part of a team that has starred in one of our most successful periods.
“Marco Asensio has won 17 titles at Real Madrid: 3 European Cups, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 3 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups.
“We Madridistas will never forget his career and exemplary behaviour during all this time. Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and he wishes him and his entire family good luck in this new phase.”
Asensio spent seven years at Real Madrid after moving from Espanyol in 2016. He scored 61 goals and made 35 assists in 285 appearances for the club.
