Real Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano, as the club’s first signing of the summer.

The 23-year-old defender was sold off to Rayo for €2m, and the Los Blancos inserted a buyback clause of €5m in the deal.

Fran Garcia will now return to the club after spending two seasons at Rayo Vallecano.

Real Madrid confirmed the transfer, via a statement: “Real Madrid CF and Rayo Vallecano have agreed on the transfer of the player Fran García, who will be linked to the club for the next four seasons.

“Fran García belonged to the Real Madrid youth academy since 2013, where he arrived at just 14 years of age, until 2020. He played two seasons at Castilla and made his debut with the Real Madrid first team in 2018.

“On Monday, June 12, at 12:00 noon at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Fran García as a new Real Madrid player will take place.”
