Real Madrid have confirmed that veteran defender Nacho Fernandez has signed a contract extension with the club.

Nacho who’s taking over as the skipper, is now set to stay with the club for another year – with the extension going on till at least June 30, 2024.

Real Madrid have released a statement, thus: “Real Madrid C.F. and Nacho Fernández have agreed to extend the contract of our captain, who remains linked to the club until June 30, 2024.”

It was reported that the 33-year-old will leave for free this summer, but he has now decided to stay back at the club.

Nacho has made 319 appearances for Real Madrid and won multiple trophies.
