Real Madrid has confirmed that Luka Modric has signed a one-year contract with the club, to extend his stay at Real Madrid.
Luka Modrid had a massive offer from Saudi Arabia that would have by far made him one of the highest paid players in the world, and it seemed a fair move, given that he’s already 37.
However, Modric chose to stay with the club and play at the highest level.
Modric has shown that he’s a Real Madrid legend, but it didn’t start on a bright note for the Croatian.
In 2012, Luka Modric was under fire for his performances at Real Madrid, after a move from Tottenham Hotspur. Modric was even named as Real Madrid’s worst signing of the year by Marca, with many Real Madrid fans participating in the voting process.
Fast forward to 2023, Modric has won the Ballon d’Or, and is one of the club’s greatest ever playmakers.
However, then Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was sure of the player he signed.
He said: “All I ask you Madridistas is to give Luka Modric time and be patient. He’s so good that the Santiago Bernabeu will fall in love with his class.”
