Liverpool striker Diogo Jota has admitted he’s wary of facing Real Madrid again, after coming up against the Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League a number of times since he joined Liverpool.
The Reds will participate in the Europa League next season, after failing to qualify for the Champions League, but Jota fears Carlo Ancelotti’s side may somehow still find themselves in the Europa League too.
Jota has always been on the losing side when he faces Real Madrid, and it’s something that has pained him the most.
“I played in the Europa League before with Wolves,” he told FourFourTwo.
“Although the fans are used to playing in the Champions League every single year and it will feel like a downgrade, it’s still a prestigious competition. We’ll give our best to win it.
“They (Real Madrid) can somehow finish third in their group and still be in our way.
“Since I came to Liverpool, I’ve always got knocked out by Real Madrid, so hopefully they’re not there!”
