Real Madrid has confirmed that Luka Modric has signed a one-year contract with the club, to extend his stay at Real Madrid.
The club has released a statement, thus: “Real Madrid C.F. and Luka Modrić have agreed to extend the player’s contract, which remains linked to the club until June 30, 2024.
“Luka Modric arrived at Real Madrid in 2012. In his eleven seasons defending our shirt, he has played 488 games and won 23 titles: 5 Champions League, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 3 Leagues, 2 Copas del Rey and 4 Super Cups from Spain.
“During his career as a Real Madrid player, Modrić has won the highest individual awards, such as the 2018 Ballon d’Or, The Best FIFA Player Award 2018, the 2017/18 UEFA Player of the Year Award, the Club World Cup 2017, and this season he has been part of the FIFA/FIFPro World XI for the sixth time in his career.”
Luka Modric had a massive offer from Saudi Arabia that would have by far made him one of the highest paid players in the world, and it seemed a fair move, given that he’s already 37.
However, Modric chose to stay with the club and play at the highest level.
